Karl studied physics at the University of Trieste, Italy and at the LMU. He obtained his PhD in physics in Erwin Frey's group at the LMU with a thesis on the evolution of cooperation in bacterial populations. To give solid foundations to his passion for communicating science, he completed Master's in scientific journalism and communication at the University of Ferrara, Italy. After his studies, he joined the Deutsches Museum as the Communication Postdoc for the CRC 235 - Emergence of Life, where he has worked since 2019.
