The successor of CRC 235 - Emergence of Life: CRC 392 Molecular Evolution in Prebiotic Environments is one of the 17 new Collaborative Research Programs DFG establishes in 2024.

LMU Munich in collaboration with TUM is launching the new Collaborative Research Center: CRC 392 Molecular Evolution in Prebiotic Environments. The center will study the chemical, physical and geological conditions that are required to trigger Darwinian evolution with RNA as the molecule of interest. The researchers aim to develop new biotechnological tools and establish autonomous molecular evolution in a synthetic system. The research results will be also highly relevant to the study of early life on non-terrestrial bodies.
